동해시가 의료 사각지대 어르신들을 위해 ‘찾아가는 이동보건소’를 운영하며 건강 돌봄의 새로운 길을 열고 있다.

진료를 넘어 삶의 질까지 보살피는 현장형 복지 행정이 주목받고 있다.

Donghae City Operates Mobile Health Clinics Visiting Senior Centers… Strengthening Healthcare for Medically Underserved Elderly

동해시는 의료 접근성이 낮은 어르신들의 건강 증진을 위해 경로당을 직접 찾아가는 ‘찾아가는 건강지킴이 이동보건소’ 사업을 운영하고 있다고 밝혔다.

Donghae City announced that it is operating a “Visiting Mobile Health Clinic” program that directly visits senior centers to promote the health of elderly residents with limited access to medical services.

해당 사업은 관내 의료취약지역에 위치한 경로당 40개소를 대상으로 주 1회 맞춤형 의료 서비스를 제공하는 방식으로 추진된다.

The program is carried out by providing customized medical services once a week to 40 senior centers located in medically underserved areas within the city.

운영기간은 3월부터 12월까지이며, 매주 목요일 오후 2시부터 4시까지 진행된다. 주요 서비스로는 혈압·당뇨 체크 등 기초 건강검사와 구강관리 교육, 그리고 어르신들의 선호도가 높은 한의과 진료를 포함한 통합 건강 서비스가 제공된다.

The program runs from March to December, every Thursday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Key services include basic health screenings such as blood pressure and diabetes checks, oral health education, and integrated healthcare services including traditional Korean medicine treatments, which are highly preferred by elderly participants.

특히 단순 진료에 그치지 않고 노인성 질환의 조기 발견과 자가 돌봄 능력 향상을 도모해 ‘100세 건강 시대’에 선제적으로 대응하는 것이 특징이다.

Notably, the initiative goes beyond simple treatment by focusing on early detection of geriatric diseases and improving self-care capabilities, proactively responding to the era of “healthy longevity up to 100 years.”

현재까지 총 6회차 운영을 통해 92명의 어르신이 서비스를 이용했으며, 시는 농번기 영향으로 상반기 참여율이 다소 낮을 수 있다는 점을 고려해 농한기와 동절기인 하반기에 운영 횟수를 확대할 계획이다.

So far, a total of six sessions have been conducted, benefiting 92 elderly residents. Considering that participation may be relatively low during the busy farming season, the city plans to increase the number of sessions in the latter half of the year, particularly during the off-season and winter.

또한 여성 어르신에 비해 상대적으로 참여율이 낮은 남성 어르신들의 참여를 유도하기 위해 다양한 홍보 방안을 적극 활용할 방침이다.

In addition, the city plans to actively utilize various promotional strategies to encourage participation among male elderly residents, whose participation rate is relatively lower compared to female participants.

#홍종란 보건정책과장은 “평균 수명이 길어짐에 따라 의료 취약계층의 건강관리가 그 어느 때보다 중요하다”며, “찾아가는 이동보건소를 통해 어르신들이 거주지 인근에서 편리하게 의료서비스를 받을 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Hong Jong-ran, Head of the Health Policy Division, stated, “As life expectancy continues to increase, healthcare management for medically vulnerable groups is more important than ever,” adding, “We will do our utmost to ensure that elderly residents can conveniently access medical services near their homes through the visiting mobile health clinics.”
