강원특별자치도가 농어촌 의료취약지의 의료공백 해소를 위해 2026년도 신규 공중보건의사 61명을 배치하며 지역 보건의료 체계 강화에 나섰다.

Gangwon State has taken steps to strengthen its regional healthcare system by deploying 61 new public health doctors for 2026 to medically underserved rural areas.

이번 배치는 신규 편입 52명과 타 시도 전입 9명을 포함한 총 61명으로 구성되며, 의과 7명, 치과 23명, 한의과 31명이다. 다만 올해 복무 만료 인원이 96명에 달해 전체 공중보건의사 수는 총 191명으로 감소한 상황이다.

The deployment includes 61 doctors in total—52 newly assigned and 9 transferred from other provinces—comprising 7 medical doctors, 23 dentists, and 31 doctors of Korean medicine. However, with 96 doctors completing their service this year, the total number of public health doctors has decreased to 191.

도는 전국적인 의과 공중보건의사 수급 감소에 대응하기 위해 ‘보건기관 운영체계 개편’을 병행 추진한다. 의료취약지 보건지소 기능을 재정비하고, 지역 여건에 따라 통합형, 진료소 전환형, 유지형, 건강증진형 등 4가지 유형을 조합해 효율성을 극대화할 방침이다.

To respond to the nationwide shortage of public health doctors, the province is also 추진ing a reform of its healthcare facility operation system. It plans to reorganize local health centers and adopt a tailored approach by combining four models—integrated, clinic-conversion, maintenance, and health-promotion types—based on regional conditions.

또한 2027년부터는 권역별 거점 중심의 지역보건의료체계 개편을 추진해 보건지소와 진료소를 통합·거점화하고, 보다 전문적이고 안정적인 의료서비스를 제공할 계획이다.

Starting in 2027, Gangwon State plans to restructure its regional healthcare system around hub-based centers, integrating local health subcenters and clinics to provide more specialized and stable medical services.

진료 수요가 적은 지역에는 인근 보건지소의 순회진료를 확대하고, 원격협진 및 비대면 진료 시스템을 적극 활용해 의료 공백 없는 촘촘한 안전망을 구축할 예정이다.

In areas with low medical demand, the province will expand mobile medical services from nearby health centers and actively utilize telemedicine and remote consultation systems to ensure a comprehensive healthcare safety net without service gaps.

#박송림 강원특별자치도 복지보건국장은 “공중보건의사 감소로 현장 어려움이 예상되지만, 보건기관 기능 개편과 시군과의 긴밀한 협력을 통해 도민 진료 불편을 최소화하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Park Song-rim, Director General of Health and Welfare at Gangwon State, stated, “Although a shortage of public health doctors is expected to cause challenges in the field, we will minimize inconvenience to residents through healthcare system reforms and close cooperation with local governments.”

한편 신규 공중보건의사는 오는 4월 20일부터 3년간 복무하며, 도는 이들이 즉시 현장에 투입될 수 있도록 사전 직무교육과 행정 절차를 차질 없이 준비할 계획이다.

Meanwhile, the newly assigned public health doctors will begin their three-year service on April 20. The province plans to complete all necessary training and administrative procedures in advance to ensure their immediate deployment in the field.
