Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced that on February 19, the Vice Governor of Selenge Province, Mongolia, visited the province to discuss exchange and cooperation measures with Vice Governor Yeo Joong-hyup.

※ Selenge Province ranks second in GDP within Mongolia and has the largest cultivated land area, producing over 50% of Mongolia’s total grain, including wheat and barley.

Vice Governor Tsengkhok Jijiken of Selenge Province visited Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province not only to attend the Gangwon International Urban Training Center’s training program (February 17–22) but also to explore new international exchange and cooperation opportunities between the two regions.

During the meeting, the Selenge delegation officially proposed exchanges with Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, focusing primarily on agriculture while also considering various other fields, including tourism.

Vice Governor Yeo Joong-hyup emphasized, “Amidst changing global circumstances, strengthening Korea-Mongolia cooperation and fostering mutual growth between Gangwon and Selenge are essential. The province will actively review Selenge’s proposals and work to identify collaborative sectors, establishing sustainable exchange and cooperation measures between the two regions.”

강원특별자치도(도지사 김진태)는 2월 19일 몽골 셀렝게도 부지사가 강원특별자치도를 방문하여 여중협 행정부지사와 교류 협력 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.

※ 몽골 내 GDP 2위, 경작 면적 1위 지역으로 몽골 전체 곡물(밀, 보리)의 50% 이상 생산

셀렝게도 쌩촉 지직켄 부지사는 강원 국제도시훈련센터 연수 프로그램 참석(2.17~22.)에 참석하는 일정과 함께, 강원특별자치도와 신규 국제 교류 협력 방안을 논의하기 위해 방문했다.

이번 면담에서 셀렝게도 측은 강원특별자치도와 농업 분야를 중심으로 관광 등 다양한 분야에서 교류를 공식적으로 제안했다.

양 도는 최근 국제 정세 속에서 한-몽 관계의 중요성이 확대되고 있으며, 지자체 간의 교류 활성화가 필요하다는 데 공감했다.

향후 양 지역 간 활발한 소통을 통해 교류 협력을 발전시켜 나가기로 약속했다.

여중협 강원특별자치도 행정부지사는 “국제 환경 변화 속에서 한-몽 협력 강화와 강원-셀렝게도의 공동 발전을 위해 국제 교류 협력은 필수적이다”라며, “도는 셀렝게도의 제안 사항을 적극 검토하면서, 공동 협력 분야를 발굴하는 등 양 도 간 지속 가능한 교류 협력 방안을 마련할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

강원특별자치도와 셀렝게도는 이번 만남을 계기로 교류 활동을 본격적으로 전개하며, 빠른 시일 내에 협력 분야를 구체화할 계획이다.
