13th RoboCup Korea Open to Kick Off on February 15 at Alpensia, Pyeongchang

— A Festival of Robotics and AI with 900 Participants from Five Countries —

The Gangwon Tourism Organization (CEO Choi Seong-hyun) has announced that the 13th RoboCup Korea Open (RoboCup South Korea Open 2025, RCKO 2025) will open on Saturday, February 15 at Alpensia Resort in Pyeongchang.

Co-hosted by the Korea RoboCup Association and The Robot Newspaper, and supported by Pyeongchang County, the Gangwon Tourism Organization, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, the competition will run for two days, from February 15 to 17.

Through active MICE attraction efforts, the Gangwon Tourism Organization successfully secured the 2023 RoboCup Asia-Pacific Championship and the 2024 RoboCup Korea Open. This year, it once again brings together robotics talents from around the world in the Olympic city of Pyeongchang.

The event will host around 900 participants and officials from five countries, competing in six categories, including:

Humanoid Soccer

Robot Soccer

Rescue Robot Simulation

Spike Maze

Spatial Autonomous Driving

On Stage

In line with the 2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Years, the competition is expected to contribute to regional economic revitalization through the MICE industry, a key initiative of the Gangwon Tourism Organization. The presence of domestic and international participants during the event is anticipated to generate positive economic effects, benefiting local businesses in accommodation, dining, and tourism.

Choi Seong-hyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization, stated,
"We plan to continue attracting relevant MICE events to establish Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province as a hub for robotics and future advanced technology exchange. By expanding the hosting of international MICE events, we aim to foster a sustainable MICE destination where Gangwon's natural environment and cutting-edge industries harmonize."

제13회 로보컵코리아오픈, 2월 15일 평창 알펜시아에서 개막

강원관광재단(대표이사 최성현)은 제13회 한국 로보컵 오픈(RoboCup South Korea Open 2025, RCKO 2025)이 2월 15일(토) 평창 알펜시아 리조트에서 개막한다고 밝혔다.

한국로보컵협회와 로봇신문이 주최하고 평창군, 강원관광재단, 산업통상자원부, 한국로봇산업진흥원 등이 후원하는 이번 대회는 2월 14일(금)부터 16일까지 3일간 개최되며 15일(토)에 개막식이 열린다.

강원관광재단은 적극적인 MICE 유치 활동으로 2023년 로보컵 아시아퍼시픽 대회와 2024년 한국 로보컵 오픈 대회를 성공적으로 유치한 데 이어, 올해 다시 한번 국내외 로봇 인재들이 올림픽 도시 평창으로 모이는 장을 마련했다.

이번 대회는 국내외 5개국에서 900여 명의 선수단과 관계자가 참가하여 휴머노이드 축구를 비롯해 로봇 축구, 재난 구조 로봇 시뮬레이션, 스파이크 메이즈, 공간 자율주행, 온 스테이지 등 총 6개 종목에서 열띤 경쟁을 펼칠 예정이다.

한편, 2025-2026 강원 방문의 해를 맞이하여 재단에서 적극적으로 추진하는 MICE 산업과 연계하여 지역 경제 활성화에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 특히, 국내외 참가자 및 관계자들이 대회 기간 평창에 체류하며 숙박, 식음료, 관광 등 다양한 분야에서 지역 경제에 긍정적인 파급 효과를 미칠 전망이다.

강원관광재단 최성현 대표이사는 “강원특별자치도가 로봇 산업 및 미래 첨단 기술 교류의 중심지로 자리매김할 수 있도록 유관 MICE 행사를 유치할 계획이며, 국제 수준의 MICE 행사 개최 확대 및 강원의 자연환경과 첨단 산업이 조화를 이루는 지속 가능한 MICE 개최지로 발전할 수 있도록 다양한 지원을 이어갈 방침이다“라고 밝혔다.
