김진태 지사, 출장 중 대설 대응 철저 지시 "도민 안전 최우선"

Governor Kim Jin-tae Orders Thorough Snowstorm Response While on Business Trip: "Prioritizing Residents' Safety"

In anticipation of heavy snowfall in the Gangwon region during the Lunar New Year holiday, Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, announced that he has issued special directives to relevant departments.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, 10–20 cm of snow (with some areas receiving over 30 cm) is expected in the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province from January 26 to 28, while 1–5 cm is forecasted along the east coast of the province.

In response, the province has been operating the Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters at Emergency Level 1 since 6 p.m. on January 26. Additionally, the Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs has instructed vice heads of city and county governments to proactively prepare for snow removal efforts, dedicating all available resources to the response.

Currently attending the Arab Health exhibition, one of the world's top three medical device trade shows, in Dubai, Governor Kim has been receiving updates on the snowstorm response and weather conditions upon his arrival.

He urged officials to "do their utmost to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during the holiday period."

He further emphasized, "Particular attention should be given to minimizing disruptions to road traffic, preventing the collapse of facilities such as livestock sheds, and ensuring the safety of winter festival venues."

민족 대명절 설 연휴 동안 많은 강원 지역에 많은 눈이 올 것으로 전망됨에 따라, 김진태 강원특별자치도지사는 유관 부서에 특별 지시사항을 전파했다고 밝혔다.

기상청에 따르면 1월 26일~28일간 강원 내륙･산지에 10~20cm(많은 곳은 30㎝ 이상), 강원 동해안에 1~5cm 적설이 예상되고 있다.

이에, 도에서는 1월 26일 오후 6시부터 재난안전대책본부 비상 1단계를 운영 중이며, 행정부지사는 시군 부단체장에게 제설 대비 적극 대응을 지시하는 등 대응에 총력을 다하고 있다.

현재 세계 3대 의료기기 전시회 '아랍헬스' 참가차 두바이를 방문 중인 김진태 지사는 현지에 도착해 대설 대응과 기상 상황을 보고받고 “명절 연휴기간 도민과 방문객의 안전을 위해 최선을 다해줄 것"을 당부했다.

이어 김 지사는 "특히 도로 교통 불편을 최소화하고, 축사 등 시설물 붕괴 대비와 겨울 축제장 안전 관리에 만전을 기할 것"을 지시했다.
