The Gangwon Institute for Women and Family (Director Kim Sook-young), in collaboration with Kangwon National University and Gangwon Domin Ilbo, hosted the "Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Forum on Mutual Growth Between International Students and Local Communities" on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

This forum was organized to explore strategies for fostering mutual growth between international students and the local community, while also sharing related research findings. Various stakeholders gathered to engage in in-depth discussions on improving multicultural awareness among residents and creating a supportive settlement environment for international students in the region.

Director Kim Sook-young remarked, “This event has been a meaningful opportunity for the public, private, academic sectors, and local media to come together and deliberate on ways to help international students settle well in the local community.

Moving forward, the Gangwon Institute for Women and Family will continue conducting research on foreign resident policies and strive to present models that contribute to regional development.”

강원특별자치도여성가족연구원(원장 김숙영)은 강원대학교, 강원도민일보와 공동으로 2025년 1월 22일(수) ‘강원특별자치도 외국인 유학생과 지역사회 상생 포럼’을 개최했다.

이번 포럼은 외국인 유학생과 지역사회의 상생 방안을 모색하고, 관련 연구 성과를 공유하는 자리로 마련되었다.

도민들의 다문화 인식 개선과 외국인 유학생들의 지역 정주 환경 조성에 대해 다양한 관계자들이 모여 심도 있는 논의를 진행했다.

포럼에서 정구연 강원대학교 정치외교학과 교수가 ‘강원도민의 격차 인식과 다문화 수용성’에 대해 발표했으며, 허남재 강원특별자치도여성가족연구원 연구위원은 ‘도내 외국인 유학생 취업 및 정주 연계 지원 방안’을 주제로 발표했다.

종합토론은 김원동 강원대학교 사회학과 명예교수가 좌장을 맡아 진행했으며, ▲박관희 강원특별자치도의회 의원 ▲김여진 강원대학교 국제교류처 처장 ▲김승희 강원대학교 부동산학과 교수 ▲허목화 강원특별자치도여성가족연구원 연구위원 ▲김여진 강원도민일보 문화부 부장 ▲강의현 강원특별자치도 외국인정책팀 팀장 ▲부이 투 우옌 강릉원주대학교 무역학과 학생 등이 참여하였다.

김숙영 원장은 “도내 외국인 유학생들이 지역사회에 잘 정착할 수 있는 방안을 마련하기 위해 민ㆍ관ㆍ학 그리고 지역 언론이 함께 머리를 맞대고 고민하는 자리가 매우 뜻깊었다”며, “앞으로도 여성가족연구원은 외국인 정책과 관련한 연구를 지속적으로 수행하여 지역 발전의 모델을 제시하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
