Presiding over a Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (CDSCHQ) meeting at Muan County Office regarding the aircraft accident, Choi stated, "We will concentrate all efforts on recovery and support through the Integrated Support Center established at the site."He also announced, “All necessary resources are being mobilized under the CDSCHQ, and we will declare the area a special disaster zone.”
At the meeting held around 2 p.m. at the Muan County Office, Choi expressed his condolences, saying, "At approximately 9:03 a.m. today, an aircraft overran the runway at Muan Airport, causing a grave situation with significant casualties. We deeply mourn the loss of lives caused by this tragic accident.”He continued, “We will do our utmost to ensure the swift recovery of the injured,” adding, “We pray for the souls of the deceased and extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved families.”
Choi emphasized, “The government has activated the CDSCHQ and will fully cooperate with all relevant agencies to maximize efforts in rescue and recovery operations.”He also pledged to “thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident and prepare measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport reported that as of 3 p.m., 1,562 personnel, including 490 firefighters, 455 police officers, 340 military personnel, and local government officials, are actively working at the accident site to search for missing persons and manage the situation.
Additionally, six investigators from the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Committee arrived at the site to conduct preliminary investigations. A regional accident management headquarters, led by the Director of the Busan Regional Aviation Administration, has also been established to support bereaved families and other recovery efforts.
무안군청서 항공기 사고 중대본 회의 주재…“다수의 인명피해 발생, 엄중한 상황”
최상목 대통령 권한대행은 29일 무안공항 항공기 활주로 이탈사고와 관련 “현장에 설치된 통합지원본부를 통해 피해수습과 지원에 모든 역량을 집중하겠다”고 말했다.
또한 “중앙재난안전대책본부를 중심으로 필요한 모든 자원을 투입하고 있으며, 특별재난지역을 선포하겠다”고 밝혔다.
최 권한대행은 이날 오후 2시경 무안군청에서 무안항공기 사고 중앙재난안전대책본부 회의를 주재한 자리에서 모두발언을 통해 이 같이 말했다.
최 권한대행은 먼저 “오늘 오전 9시 3분경 전남 무안공항 활주로에서 항공기 이탈 사고가 발생해 다수의 인명피해가 발생한 엄중한 상황”이라며 “이번 사고로 인해 많은 사상자가 발생한 점에 깊은 애도를 표한다”고 말했다.
또 “부상자들의 신속한 회복을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말한 뒤 “희생되신 분들의 명복을 빌며, 유가족분들께도 진심으로 위로의 뜻을 전한다”며 거듭 애도를 표했다.
최 권한대행은 “정부는 중앙재난안전대책본부를 가동하였으며, 모든 관계기관이 협력하여 구조와 피해 수습에 총력을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
아울러 “사고 원인을 철저히 조사하고 유사사고를 방지하기 위한 재발방지대책을 마련하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 국토교통부는 이날 15시 기준으로 사고 현장에는 소방 490명, 경찰 455명, 군 340명, 해경, 지자체 등 관계자 1562명의 인원이 동원돼 실종자 수색 등 사고 수습에 나서고 있다고 밝혔다.
또 사고 원인 조사를 위해 항공철도사고조사위원회 소속 조사관 6명이 현장에 도착해 초동 조사 중에 있다.
현장에는 부산지방항공청장을 본부장으로 하는 지역사고수습본부를 설치해 유가족 지원 등에 나서고 있다.
