Kim Jin-tae, the Governor of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, has been awarded the Leadership Award at the 2nd Korea Public Brand Awards, organized by the Korea Public Brand Promotion Institute.

The Korea Public Brand Promotion Institute is a non-profit organization registered with the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, established to enhance the value of public brands, including national, city, public institutions, and public enterprises, through systematic management and promotion. 

Since last year, the institute has hosted Korea’s first public brand awards, selecting public brands that have contributed to increasing public value and fostering a spirit of community in various sectors such as government, local governments, public institutions, public enterprises, and private businesses.

In this year's evaluation, Governor Kim was recognized for his leadership in a range of significant achievements, including the successful establishment of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, the groundbreaking of the Osaek Cable Car after 41 years, and preparations for the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games. He was also praised for his efforts to build a foundation for future industries by fostering new advanced sectors such as semiconductors, biotechnology, and hydrogen.

Governor Kim's dedication to future industry development was particularly evident in his active involvement in key projects. He personally presented at the bio-specialized zone competition evaluation, traveled to both Gangneung and Seoul to emphasize the importance of selecting Gangwon for the semiconductor joint research center, and played a key role in establishing the region's advanced industrial base.

Currently, the province is pushing forward with nine semiconductor projects, worth 220 billion KRW in national funding. It has also secured success in being selected for both the bio-specialized zone and hydrogen-specialized zone.

Additionally, as the head of the province, Kim focused on disaster response to protect the lives and property of residents. His proactive efforts led to Gangwon's lowest-ever wildfire damage in 22 years this past spring. Furthermore, he successfully improved the province's financial health through a balanced and prudent fiscal strategy.

Governor Kim expressed gratitude for the award, stating, "This recognition is the result of the collective efforts of the people of Gangwon. I will continue to strive to create a future-oriented global city that the people can truly feel."
